BATHROOM
R E M O D E L
Earlier this year, we were contacted by a woman needing urgent remodeling help. During our initial consultation, this woman, Mrs. Jones, told us that her elderly mother was coming to live with her. Mrs. Jones had concerns over how safe and how functional both her powder room and her hall bathroom would be for her mom. The bathrooms were both quite small. As is frequently the case, the homeowner was having difficulty visualizing how everything in each bathroom would look and fit. She wanted the rooms to be safe, functional and beautiful, but was at a loss to see how this could be accomplished. This problem was easily overcome during phase 1 of our precise threepart process.
Challenge
During Phase 1 our challenge was to maximize space and functionality and update the aesthetics. Naturally, we also wanted to make sure the plans and ultimate final product would be exactly what the client wanted. The bathrooms both had very limited space, therefore vanities needed to be smaller than the normal size. Since safety and function were of utmost of importance, correct placement of grab bars was important. During the remodel, Mrs. Jones and her mother would be living elsewhere, making it vital for MSC to complete the project as quickly as possible.
Solution
The first step was to create a visual rendering of each of the two bathrooms. This helped our client visualize the space, which ultimately helped her choose the final layout and design. We showed her several options with different sizes and placements for the vanities and locations for the grab bars, shower faucets and accessories. (She loved the way the vanity looked, positioned snugly in the far corner of the hall bathroom.) We went over these layout options (using 3D rendering for visual support) with Mrs. Jones and helped her decide on all aspects of the design. These detailed layouts, approved by the customer, help us prepare a smooth remodeling process.
Conclusion
In this project MSC had the challenge of updating two extremely small bathrooms from their original 1940’s style to a level of safety and functionality for an elderly woman. After the 3 phases of our process, Mrs. Jones and her mother are now enjoying their beautiful, personalized, and stressfree bathrooms.
