After a fire in his building caused serious damage to Mr. Mitchell's condo he needed immediate help from multiple contractors to complete the repairs and renovations as quickly as possible. Mr. Mitchell selected MSC to do the work on his kitchen. We consulted with the client, going over layout, plans, and scheduling, in coordination with workers, other contractors and building management.

Challenge

During this remodeling assignment we were faced with two major challenges.

Much of the work on the condo was being done by contractors connected with the insurance company. However, the client wanted to work specifically with MSC on his kitchen. This required skillful management, to coordinate with the other contracting firms to make sure everyone had the opportunity to get their jobs done.

The other challenge was working quickly through the hectic work environment to get the kitchen remodel completed smoothly and on schedule for the expected move­in date.

Solution

First, we made sure all materials were ordered and readily available as needed for the job. The client was kept notified at all times during the preparation and the construction phase.

The project manager paid close attention to the schedules of all contractors, keeping other firms and the building management informed of our start and stop times. He also made sure there were never any scheduling conflicts.

With proper attention to all aspects of preparation, communication, and coordination, we ensured the kitchen was completed on time and to the exact specifications.

Conclusion

By continuous attention to communication, scheduling, and to the details of construction, we were able to make the client feel at ease during this potentially stressful renovation process.

Mr. Mitchell was able to return to his home on the expected date. He was extremely satisfied with the kitchen installation and the whole process he experienced with MSC. After the project was completed, he told us that he had many communication issues with other contractors, but always felt fully at ease and confident with MSC.
