BATHROOM
R E M O D E L
Mrs. Segura was expecting a baby and needed us to update her bathroom into a clean and safe space to prepare for the new arrival. She wanted a beautiful, fresh and modern bathroom, but had no idea how to achieve that result within the limitations of the bathroom size and layout. Her current bath was small, narrow and outofdate. The tile was cracked and the floor was dangerously uneven. There was no room for storage. As the only bathroom in the house with a tub, this was going to be the room where Mrs. Segura gave her new baby a bath.
Challenge
The small, rundown bathroom needed major updates and structural repairs. There was little of the old bath that could be retained. The old tub was in such poor condition that it had to be replaced. The entire bathroom needed to be demolished, and the floor had to be leveled and redone. The plumbing and fixtures were in no better condition and these had to be pulled out and new materials used in the restructuring on the room. Part of the challenge to this renovation involved working in such a small space.
Solution
Once the room was thoroughly demolished, we opened up and leveled the floor. An old radiator was removed and a more modern, smaller one was put in its place, to give added space and a better visual appearance. The old bathtub was replaced with an elegant freestanding one and more in keeping with the size of the room. We replaced the small, cracked tiles with ones of a bigger size, in order to give the room a larger feel and to allow for easier maintenance. Finally, a storage cabinet was added over the toilet.
Conclusion
Mrs. Segura was totally surprised at how great her bathroom looked at the end of the remodel. It now had a sleek, modern design, the floor was level, the bathtub was perfect, all the fixtures fit the space perfectly and it even had a storage space for towels, and other bathroom necessities. And all of this was done in plenty of time to await the arrival of the new baby.
